Do It Yourself projects make a great activity whether you're at home on a rainy day, quarantined, or just want to feed that creative itch that is creeping up on you! Whether these DIY projects are meant to help out your pup or just spoil them with yet another unneeded toy, these will sure get you on your toes and ready to explore new crafts! Most of these DIY’s only require a few materials that can be found around the house, so they are easy to make! Additionally, these projects help save money while also providing for your pup!
Water Bottle T-shirt Toy
So many dogs are obsessed with water bottles and love the crinkle sound it makes. In fact, a crinkle toy is more interactive than a squeak toy! If you have a plastic water bottle, this is a great way to reuse it and put it to use for your furry friend! All you need for this toy is a water bottle, an old T-shirt, and scissors.
String Art
This one is more for you than your pup, but is still an awesome way to appreciate your furry friend! String art is always a fun activity, and including your pup in the design makes it that better! You need a wooden board (I painted mine!), string, cutouts of a design (which you can just print and cut to size), scissors, nails, and a hammer. These designs look great hung on a wall, or just placed on a shelf around your house! Watch below to see exactly how I made mine!
Braided Tug Toy
This toy can be used for just about anything--from tug-a-war, to fetch, or just a chew toy to distract your pup while you try to cook that much needed homemade meal. This toy is super easy to make, and all you need is an old T-shirt, and scissors! If you think your pup would chew right through this, you can make it stronger by cutting wider strands or using a thicker material.
Frozen Treats
With just three simple ingredients, these fun-shaped frozen treats are a great way to treat your pup to a frozen goodie! Frozen treats are especially rewarding for pups experiencing teething and hot weather! All you need for the treats is a banana, peanut butter (without Xylitol), frozen peas, and a silicone mold. I purchased two molds from Amazon for under $9! If you don’t have a mold, don’t worry! You can also place the mixture on parchment paper in the freezer! Watch the video below for detailed directions!
I hope you had a ton of fun making these and I hope your pup enjoyed them! Stay tuned for more DIY projects, enrichment ideas, training tips, and just everyday life!
