Let’s face it, having a dog is a ton of work! Especially if they are constantly drooling, tearing up their bed, jumping in puddles, and having way too much energy. I have experienced all of the ups and downs with Daisy, my five month old lab, and eventually discovered just the right products that’ll do the trick in almost any area I was struggling in. So, below I have gathered my top five favorite products that I find most useful and may help you find the products you are looking for!
I judged each of these products based on:
Frequency of use
Cost
Quality
Health benefits
Petkin Oatmeal Pet Wipes
These pet wipes are a great way to get your dog squeaky clean without having to give them a bath every time they get just a little mud on their paws!
I use these wipes for nearly everything--cleaning up Daisy after a good meal (because she drools A LOT), cleaning her ears, wiping her paws after a muddy potty break, and so much more! They come at an affordable price, while still delivering a top-quality experience! Each sheet comes in a size extra-large, allowing you to go through the wipes at a slower rate and making sure you are not constantly reaching for another. Featuring vitamin E and aloe, the Petkin wipes leave your pup’s skin moist and hydrated.
I got these Petkin Oatmeal Pet Wipes (200 count) for just $11.46 from Petco!
Earthbath Shampoo with Aloe
From the first day I got Daisy, she had really bad dandruff and was constantly itching herself. I tried so many different shampoos, but nothing seemed to help her dry skin. When I tried Earthbath shampoo with aloe, her dandruff suddenly got so much better, and is rarely even an issue anymore. Not to mention the wonderful and long-lasting smell it leaves on Daisy’s fur after the bath! The shampoo is also free of toxins, enzymes, phosphates, and is animal cruelty free!
I got this Earthbath Shampoo (16 fl. oz.) for just $8.35 from Petco!
Microfiber Towel
You can’t go wrong with a simple microfiber towel! I use this towel right and left for just about anything--bedding, drying after the bath, car rides, wiping muddy paws, ect. The microfiber is extremely absorbent, soft, and dries incredibly fast. No matter what you use this for, I would definitely call this a necessity around the house!
I got this microfiber towel for about $8 from HomeGoods!
Old Mother Hubbard treats
These are the absolute best treats I have encountered throughout my search to find healthy and tasty treats for my pup. In the beginning, Daisy didn’t mind her crate, but never wanted to go in herself. I started giving her these treats when she went into her crate, which has helped tremendously with crate training! She now loves her crate and goes in herself when I simply just touch the bag.
Not only are these treats delicious, but Old Mother Hubbard treats consist of all natural ingredients like chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, and oatmeal! There are a wide variety of flavors (P-Nutter, Chicken Pot Pie, Liv’r’crunch, Just Vegg’n, and so many more!) and sizes (mini, small, and large) to accomodate to your dog’s wants and needs. They even offer fresh breath, seasonal, mini & training, and grain free treats! The limits are endless with Old Mother Hubbard treats and you can find any type of treat you are in search of for a reasonable price.
Tip: Add a scoop of peanut butter on top of the treat to make it extra special!
I got these Old Mother Hubbard treats (20-oz bag) for just $5.47 from Petco!
Harmony slow feeder
The Harmony slow feeder is great regardless of your dog’s age, as it allows your pup to eat and digest slower while also incorporating an interactive design. There are so many benefits to this slow feeder, so I’ll just list them out for you:
Before I got this slow feeder, Daisy was chomping down her meals at an unbelievably fast rate. Therefore, she couldn’t digest all the food at once, making her vomit sometimes after meals. The slow feeder forces your dog to eat slower which aides in digestion, decreasing chances of an upset stomach and bloat.
Believe it or not, the interactive design of the slow feeder serves as a canine enrichment activity! It allows your dog to think about how to get the food out from around the “obstacles”, making them smarter and happier!
A slow feeder also causes your pup to be less hungry between meals, since they will be digesting their food slower. This is especially important in labs and other breeds that are genetically prone to obesity and feeling less full.
The Harmony slow feeder is dishwasher safe, and made of BPA-free materials!
I got the Harmony Slow Feeder for just $14.99 from Petco!
I hope these five products help you find exactly what you’ve been wanting for your pup and help you spice up your dog treat shelf!
Keep calm and wag on!
